This gorgeous member of the Hebe family issues long and delicate stems of soft lilac flowers in spring which is unique in New Zealand natives. Traditionally the leaves were used in a distillation as a tonic, to heal internal organs. Externally, poultices were applied to the skin to heal skin disorders.
